As part of the Horizon Europe project HeriTACT, in September 2024 we organised an online info/demo session to present innovative digital tools for community participation in cultural heritage. The tools that were presented (see below) aim to allow the active participation of citizens in the reactivation of the local cultural tangible and intangible heritage:

  • ParticiMap tool, developed by the University College Dublin, Ireland: a participatory mapping tool to improve dialogue within local communities and stakeholders and focus on reuse and enhancement of cultural heritage.

  • HERICraft tool, developed by the University College Dublin, Ireland: based on Minecraft, this tool creates a virtual environment from open-source geospatial data, encouraging participation through multiplayer gameplay facilitated by an online server.

  • DesignYourHeritage tool, developed by the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, Spain: a videogame aimed at empowering citizens of all ages to engage in the design and reactivation of heritage spaces. It educates the users about the NEB principles in an engaging and playful way.

  • SustainACT tool, developed by the Accelerating Change Together studio, Ireland: a tool for assessing and contributing to sustainable targets including the NEB, European Green Deal and Sustainable Development Goals. It facilitates input from individuals and community groups in the design process, translating sustainability goals for a broad audience.

Other info/demo sessions will be organised in the coming months.
