TGR The Green Room

Köln, Germany

TGR The Green Room is a centre founded in Cologne, Germany, in October 2020 for the comprehensive support of performing artists (especially musicians, dancers, actors) in challenging phases of their careers. With offerings such as artistic residencies, performance training, somatic work, psychosocial counselling, and professional coaching, TGR provides artists who are experiencing grave professional challenges an individually tailored support system that aims to sustainably improve the artists' professional situation through the development of heightened resilience and the collection of resources. TGR's services combine health promotion with formats to strengthen artistic practice, with an emphasis on process-oriented self-exploration.

All counselling or teaching staff, including founder Heather O'Donnell, are active or former performing artists. Our programs are developed by and for artists and are artistically informed, scientifically grounded, and globally innovative.

Our programs are aimed at performing artists, as well as people with a special interest in artistic research and development, and students in the performing arts. Our comprehensive and varied range of psychosocial and somatic offers mostly takes place in group classes. In addition, we offer individualised and confidential forms of support, e.g. in the form of psychological counselling and coaching.

Artists are invited to engage with our centre in order to learn about and explore new skills and abilities at the interface between artistic practice and psychosocial/physical methods. This not only promotes resilience, artistic development, professional excellence, and self-reflection, but can also contribute to a diverse exchange among artists and those with a deep interest in the artistic process.
