Piotr Michałowski holds a MA in Arts (Cultural Studies), a MSci in Cultural Diplomacy and a MSci in Cultural Management, Project Coordination, Fundraising and Entrepreneurship. He is a graduate of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation School of Moderators, of the University of Wrocław in Musicology and of the Wrocław School of Jazz (as a jazz guitarist). He trained at the National Centre for Culture in Poland and at Stanford University on International Cultural Management, Local Strategic Development for Cultural Institutions, and Creativity and Innovation. Piotr has also successfully coordinated over 100 cultural projects.
His working experience has been in the NGO sector for 23 years, in the cultural public sector for 13 years, and in the creative sector for the past 8 years, running the Micro Art Center. He has expertise on territorial development, networking, and non-urban culture. He is a frequent speaker at international conferences dedicated to culture & the arts.
Piotr has been a ENCC Board member since 2015. He coordinates the ENCC's Working Group on Cultural Centres and Non-Urban Culture. He is also an Independent Expert of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe programme for the period 2022-26.
