UoW is represented by the Faculty of Arts, which includes the Arena Theatre & Performance Hub. With support from Arts Council of England, the theatre hosts in excess of 200 public performances per year. At least one show annually is specifically adapted for blind and partially sighted while several performances are enhanced with British Sign Language interpretation. In addition, the Arena is known as one of the leading venues in the country for its support of disabled artists. Its work with disabled companies has been commended by the Arts Council in the recent renewal of National Portfolio Organization status. It is a member of Simorgh, a network promoting access and inclusion for deaf & disabled artists and audience in mainstream setting. UoW is currently a partner in Theatres for All, a Creative Europe project which will train audio describers and produce audio described performances for visually impaired audiences.
