Ateneu Barcelonès
Spain
The Ateneu Barcelonès is a historic private cultural institution in Barcelona, founded in 1860. We are dedicated to promoting culture, social cohesion, intellectual debate, and critical thought, with a strong focus on Catalan culture.
We are especially known for our free and open lectures, debates, and courses, our important historical library, and our role as a meeting place for prominent writers, thinkers, and public figures. We also have one of the most relevant creative writing schools of the country, with +1000 students per year.
Located in the city center, the Ateneu has long been a key hub of Barcelona’s cultural and civic life.
