CCTC preserves and promotes local cultural heritage, educates the public about local history and organises cultural life in Cesis town.
Cēsis Culture and Tourism center (CCTC) is a municipal agency that supports activities of 13 amateur art groups (choirs, dance and theatre, groups etc.). There is a possibility for all age groups – from children to retired people - to participate in arts activities at CCTC.
We ensure cultural participation for all groups of the society in voluntary creative arts expressions.
The centre organises different cultural events during the year – concerts, performances, meaningful anniversaries and festivities, including local city festival with a very wide audience.
Cēsis History and Arts museum based in Cēsis Castle complex is a part of the organisation. The museum has more than 100,000 items in its collection, which forms the base for permanent and temporary exhibitions. Interactive excursions are provided to different visitors groups, especially the young audience, in order to raise the awareness of the history’s impact in today’s life. Collecting stories from local inhabitants supports work with local community, build its identity and pride, and thus create local social capital.
In 2014 Cēsis (18,000 inhabitants) participated in the cultural program of the Latvian capital city Riga nominated as European Capital of Culture 2014.
