Muzikator is a new cultural institute located in the medieval town of Škofja Loka, Slovenia.
Muzikator deals with art education in the field of music. In order to promote creative learning, Muzikator creates synergies between arts and education, artists and teachers, cultural and educational foundations.
It organises innovative creative music workshops for Slovene primary and secondary schools. Our workshops, designed to enrich the musical education of school children, are organised in partnership with local schools, the Škofja Loka Museum, and the Slovene branch of Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI). Pupils learn about Slovene music and culture heritage. Muzikator offers them the chance to experience, create and perform music in public with professional musicians.
The founder and director of Muzikator institute is Špela Golobič, violoncellist and PhD in music pedagogy. Her co-workers are professional composers, pianists and percussionists.
Why is Muzikator going European?
- to connect with European artists and cultural centres,
- to start new international collaborations,
- to find partners for Creative Europe projects,
- to exchange best practices in community music-making.
