UPscale initiative special prize
41 cultural centres from 21 countries joined the first phase of our SOS initiative sharing their best practices linked to 5 different strands of sustainability. A jury composed by internal and external experts evaluated all ideas. 5 of them will now develop joint initiatives with the ENCC, while one was selected to receive a special prize.
Our partnership with TrikeGo (IT) will make it possible for the project to receive a brand new cargo bike, to be used for further developing sustainable mobility while providing visibility to the work of the organization and awareness about the importance of a different way of living.
Stay tuned for more from our Seeds of Sustainability (SOS) pilot project. The ENCC's work on sustainability and cultural centres is just starting...
We are happy to announce the Cargo Bike winner:
(Circular Economy Strand):
Precious Plastic Albania by Tek Bunkeri - (Albania)
With Precious Plastic Albania, the cultural centre Tek Bunkeri created the first DIY-Recycling Workspace in Albania that grows into a Social Enterprise for unique design items made from 100% locally sourced plastic waste.
This project offers free educational workshops for schools, youth groups and any interested individual and builds a community of collection points and active citizens tackling plastic waste pollution in Albania.
"We will use the bike mainly for collection and pop-up activities in Tirana and for holding workshops with neighbourhood schools. With the TrikeGo special award, our organization will be much more flexible in terms of activity implementation and awareness raising. Because of this prize, Precious Plastic Albania is confident to grow its impact."
