174 TRUST /THE DUNCAIRN — the very first venue dedicated to culture in North-Belfast!
174 Trust is a community development and peacebuilding facility based in Inner City North Belfast. The Trust has worked at building cross-community/cross-cultural projects and relationships since its beginnings back in September 1983. It is respected across the island of Ireland and the CEO Rev. Bill Shaw is a respected ambassador for peace having worked in an advisory role on projects in Europe and USA. In 2014, Bill and the Trust realised a 15-year dream and opened the doors of north Belfast's first and only-purpose art and cultural facility, The Duncairn Centre for Culture and Arts (The Duncairn). The Centre has quickly become a widely respected organisation on the island of Ireland, recognised for its ability to break down barriers to participation for marginalised and disadvantaged communities as well as its support and development of new, young and emerging arts and cultural practitioners. In 2021, the ENCC collaborates with them on their exemplary initiative in the field of circular economy: the Duncairn Centre for Environment - Wildflower Weekend [more info here]
