Ritums is an active culture and folk art centre in Riga. It has been running since 1995 and is part of the Culture and Sports Department of Riga City Council Education.
The objective of Ritums is to preserve immaterial cultural heritage and to popularise traditional culture and applied arts.
Ritums showcases the activities of 36 amateur art groups – choirs, dance troops, amateur theatre, folklore sets and folk applied arts studios. Every month it offers new exhibitions of professional and emerging artists and applied arts related to folk traditions.
"European cooperation is important for us because we want to meet new partners and take part in international cultural projects."
Why are we going European?
- to find new partners,
- to have new experiences,
- to carry out new cultural projects.
