The Ukrainian Cultural Foundation (UCF) is a state-owned institution that aims at facilitating the development of culture and arts in Ukraine.
Created in 2017 in line with the Law of Ukraine, its mission is to provide favourable environment for development of intellectual and spiritual potential of individuals and society, wide access for the citizens to national cultural heritage, to support cultural diversity and integration of the Ukrainian culture into the world cultural space. Therefore, the Foundation introduces new mechanisms for result oriented and competition-based state funding for initiatives in the field of culture and creative industries. These mechanisms enable the creation and dissemination of common values within the society, as well as contribute to the development of Ukrainian culture and preservation of cultural heritage in the context of world trends.
The UCF’s strategic goals are:
- To strengthen institutional and financial capacity
- To support creation of cultural product
- To strengthen the role of culture in society development
- To support internationalization of Ukrainian culture
The UCF has 10 grant programs that cover 8 cultural sectors (visual arts, audial arts, audiovisual arts, cultural heritage, CCI, fashion and design, literature and publishing, performing arts). These programs are the following: Innovative Cultural Product; Prominent Events for Ukrainian Culture; Analytics of Culture; Audiovisual Arts; Education. Exchanges. Residencies. Debuts; Inclusive Arts; Cultural Capitals of Ukraine; Networks and Audiences; Culture. Tourism. Regions. (partner program); Culture for Changes (partner program). The activities of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation are guided and coordinated by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.
Among other values, the UCF supports the ENCC values of cultural diversity, intercultural dialogue, cultural equality and cultural rights. In line with the ENCC, among UCF’s priorities are to promote intercultural dialogue and cultural diversity, to create favourable conditions for creative activities, partnership development and formation of common values of the civil society in Ukraine, to guarantee cultural rights by ensuring equal access to cultural resources and equal opportunities for personal development and self-realization for all citizens and communities, regardless of cultural, linguistic, ethnic, regional, social, gender and other peculiarities or differences and to promote internationalisation of Ukrainian culture
