The ENCC is excited to be participating in the Structured Dialogue on Gender Equality in the Cultural Sector organised by Voices of Culture -- and happy to announce that Gender Equality is one of the new priorities of the 2019-2022 EU Work Plan for Culture.
This process comes on the year our network is launching a project to promote diversity, equality and inclusion within our network -- in which gender issues play an important part. We bring to the consultation an introspective look at our network on this question, as well as experiences, best practices and recommendations from our members.
The first step of the dialogue was a brainstorming meeting with all participants to draft a first report on recommendations. The ENCC is part of a sub-group working on "Systemic discrimination". We've been talking institutional discrimination, identifying gatekeepers, different types of affirmative action, training and mentoring, as well as the need for intersectionality and awareness of the whole spectrum of gender.
We are now refining the brainstorming report to present its conclusions to the European Commission, as well as to the experts from member states who will soon form an OMC (Open Method of Coordination) group to work on the topic.
