The project of creation of the “Spanish Network of Cultural Centres”, turned into a reality with national participation success.
This network is conceived as a meeting platform for the study and debate of issues that concern Spanish cultural centers, both public and private, as well as for an exchange of experiences and solutions, in order to facilitate the access and channelling of international cooperation and to serve as a link between Spain and the rest of the European Union.
The registration in the network is for free, as well as the use of the information that it provides.
Murcia, March 31st, 2016. The creation of the Spanish Network of Cultural Centres has belonged to the SNCC Project, which has been encouraged by the Association of Cultural Managers of the Region of Murcia (GERM), in collaboration with Murcia’s City Council and Puertas de Castilla Cultural Centre, and the European Network of Cultural Centres (ENCC), and financed by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports.
The “National meeting on cultural centres: networking and development models”, within the SNCC Project, took place last January in Murcia. It was attended by over fifty professionals of the cultural sector from different Spanish cities and other European countries. During the event, many of the attendants joined the initiative of the foundation of the Spanish Network of Cultural Centres and, since then, are part of a participatory process which, structured in working groups, has encouraged the activation of this network.
The Spanish Network of Cultural Centres provides all its members, and those interested in being part of it, with a virtual space that increases the visibility of our cultural centres through several tools: a mapping of the Spanish cultural centres that belong to the Network, a specific space to promote the activities that are organised by the cultural centres of the Network, etc. That space can be found at www.sncc.es, where it is also possible to request a subscription to the network’s newsletter, as well as watching the videos of the conferences of the meeting held in January at Puertas de Castilla Centre (Murcia).
This meeting included the participation of renowned speakers at a national and international level, such as Rafael Carazo Rubio (General Deputy Director for Promotion of Cultural Industries and Patronage. Directorate-General for Cultural Policy and Industries and Books. State Secretary of Culture. Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports), Mª Angeles García Cabello (State Federation of Associations of Cultural Managers, Spain -FEAGC-), Ivo Peeters (Chairman of the European Network of Cultural Centres, Belgium -ENCC-), Piotr Michalowski(Promoter of Wandering Cultural Forum "Lower Silesia" and Director of a House of Culture in Oleśnica, Poland), Juan Pablo Soler Fuster (Member of the Board of the publicly owned Spanish Network of Theatres, Auditoriums, Circuits and Festivals, Spain) Sandy Fitzgerald (Cultural Manager, Ireland / Spain), Sylvine Bois-Choussy (Coordinator of the ENCC: European Network of Cultural Centres, Belgium), Raúl Abeledo Sanchis (Director of European Projects of Econcult, University of Valencia), Abraham Hurtado (Director of AADK Spain) or Javier Brun (Professor for Unesco of cultural and cooperation politics, of the University of Girona), among others. They gave the keys to analyse the possibilities networking offers to the cultural sector.
SNCC and ENCC will actively collaborate to facilitate and foster the involvement of SNCC members at the European level and in ENCC activities.
