Muzea Małopolski (MIK)
Mirka Bałazy
“Malopolska’s Virtual Museums” aims to present on the Internet valuable resources of importance to the culture. The project was implemented in partnership with the Department of Business Development of the O ce of Malopolska Province Marshal – Project Leader and the Malopolska Institute of Culture (MIK) — Partner and main project executor, in cooperation with 35 museums. e project is co-financed with EU funds under the Regional Operational Programme for Malopolska for the years 2007–2013 and the budget of the Malopolska Province.
Within the project, the Regional Digitalisation Workshop and a website have been created. On the website one can admire more than 700 digitalised exhibits for which up until now museum showcases and warehouses have been their natural setting. Exhibits have been selected from their collections by Malopolska’s museums, following consultations with the project Council of Experts. Because the majority of them are presented as three- dimensional images, it will be possible to not only learn the rich history of these exhibits but also to see them up close, and to learn every tiny detail about them, without fear of destroying precious objects or violating museum etiquette.”

E-Kultura
Jagoda Komusińska
Cultural institutions in Poland are undergoing profound changes. ese changes are due to technological progress - including the creation, development and continuous change in digital technologies. With scanning technologies, we can create digital images of important artifacts and thus secure the survival of the message, which is associated with them. However, heritage protection itself is only the beginning of the challenge. An important and often missing link is to promote this heritage - reaching the maximum wide audience, including socially excluded groups. ey believe, that the more Polish people, groups, or organizations will be thinking about how to support the dissemination of digital culture, the more e ective they will be in it as a nation. With the right e ort, mutual inspiration, and strength, they see new possibilities for reviving heritage, and its use for achieving their development goals.

Muzeum Etnograficzne
Anna Szelingowska and Anna Grajewska
“The Ethnographic Museum in Kraków was born of the passion and reverence for cultures. For peasant culture. For European cultures. For exotic cultures. Today, the Museum endeavours to be the place where the new description of the world – bygone and contemporary, far and near – is made. Thee world of custom that we ourselves find to be a mirror.
In other words: the museum wants to be a centre of reflection and understanding oneself and others.”
