On June 4-5, we gathered online with a few speakers and workshop leaders to talk about the current situation. Is this crisis changing the way we consider culture, its impact, its role in society? How are we redefining our position as artists, cultural organisations, cultural venues, and how should we approach this in the future ?
The European Conference Cultural Impact Now!, jointly organized by ENCC, Trans Europe Halles and Danish cultural centre Maltfabrikken, was supposed to take place in Ebeltoft, Denmark, in June 2020. Due to the outburst of the COVID pandemic, it was postponed to June 2021. This online pre-conference was set up on the original dates, with speakers Eleonora Belfiore, Pier Luigi Sacco, Michel Bauwens and Richard Florida and workshop leaders Agata Etmanowicz and Pal Szenasi focusing on the effects of the crisis on cultural impact, on future scenarios and on possible actions and alternatives.
It was an intense two-day event, and we’re grateful to the speakers, workshop leaders and the many participants who made it successful in spite of very short notice. We'd also like to thank Geoffrey Brown for moderating the opening panel with his usual composure and humour.

The proper conference will take place on June 3-6, 2021. We’ll go back in depth to the big questions of our topic with the benefit of some hindsight on the crisis. And, most importantly, of actual physical presence in a beautiful environment! Subscribe to our newsletter and follow the conference event on Facebook to get updates.
