Operators from the Brussels arts sector take position against the police raid and arrestations at Globe Aroma arts centre for migrants on 9 February 2018.
"If cultural and artistic operators can no longer organise moments of encounter without the police intervening, then the goal is compromised and fear and polarisation reign... That is not the way to go."
In this open letter (in French) to police and political authorities, five major cultural organisations demand explanations on the goals of the police action, and question the fact that authorities fund safe havens and spaces of artistic expression for migrants, and then undermine them by making those spaces dangerous for undocumented persons.
