The Shortcut Europe conference "RECcORD: Practicing and Researching Participation in Cultural Centres" was organised by the ENCC, Kulturhusene i Danmark and Aarhus University in the framework of Aarhus 2017 - European Capital of Culture and was supported by the European Union through the Creative Europe programme.
Across Europe, cultural centres engage citizens in a variety of artistic and social activities. But what are the their characteristics, what kinds of citizen participation take place in them, and to what effects? This has been investigated in RECcORD, a European research project involving 38 cultural centers and researchers Birgit Eriksson, Carsten Stage and Camilla Møhring Reestorff from Aarhus University. The film “The RECcORD Project”, made by GotFat Productions, presents some of the findings and provides new knowledge about cultural centres and citizen participation.
