Fundación Uxio Novoneyra

Uxio Novoneyra Foundation
Folgoso do Courel, Spain

The Uxío Novoneyra Foundation (FUN), declared of national interest in 2009, is dedicated to preserving the poetic, artistic, and environmental legacy of Uxío Novoneyra while promoting cultural and socio-territorial development.

The foundation actively promotes research and study in literature, particularly poetry, as well as language, painting, performing arts, and historical and political studies. Collaborating with institutions, administrations, and communities, the FUN fosters critical reflection and scholarly exploration of Novoneyra's legacy and broader cultural themes.

The protection of the environment, particularly the UNESCO Geopark and Biosphere Reserve of the Courel Mountains, is central to the foundation’s mission. This landscape, closely tied to Novoneyra’s identity, is safeguarded through initiatives that raise awareness and promote its cultural and ecological significance.

In support of its home region, the FUN drives socio-cultural revitalization through projects like the Festival dos Eidos, held annually in summer and autumn.

Internationally, the FUN promotes the culture and socio-cultural realities of inland Galicia (NUTS ES11/2). By collaborating with public and private entities across Europe, it builds connections that facilitate cultural preservation, innovation, and exchange.

The Uxío Novoneyra’s birthplace house and territory museum is a cornerstone of the foundation’s work. Once restored, the house-museum will include a library, archives, exhibition spaces, literary residence, bookshop, canteen, visitable vegetable garden, 13 forests, and 4 hectares of meadows, creating an interactive space that immerses visitors in Novoneyra’s world.

On a broader scale, the FUN leads the Iberian Association of Writers’ House-Museums and Foundations (ACAMFE).
