Sanatatak
Founded in 2012, Sanatatak is a multidisciplinary cultural platform committed to exploring and articulating the profound interrelations between art, thought and life.
Initially conceived as an online cultural and arts journal, Sanatatak has since evolved into a vibrant intellectual ecosystem; one that cultivates dialogue through interviews, critical essays, symposia, exhibitions, educational programmes, concerts, workshops and masterclasses.
Guided by its founder, Ayşegül Sönmez, Sanatatak has published seven books; Umut Burnundan Dolaşarak, Ben Ayşegül Sönmez Çağın İçinde etc. (Bilingual: Haksız Tahrik, Plastik Sanatlarımız 1967, Sayıların Yerleşimle İlgisi Yoktur), curated landmark exhibitions such as Time is LOVE and Bir Dünya Gezisi Sahnesi, and established collaborations with leading cultural institutions. Its educational initiatives extend from the lecture series Ayşegül in the 20th Century to original courses traversing literature, philosophy, cinema and contemporary art. Sanatatak also organises curated Art Tours and live conversations that bring together artists, thinkers and activists, fostering critical engagement across disciplines.
Equally devoted to music and performance, Sanatatak has produced distinctive cultural events, including the collective reinterpretation of Neşet Ertaş’s musical legacy by 27 artists and the staging of Animal Charm, taking inspiration from the 16th Istanbul Biennial, hosting Olena Uutai from Siberia as an honoured guest.
