Everyone Gets to Enjoy the Benefits of the Hobby!
Access to engaging in leisure activities should be as easy as possible for all of us. This project aims to enable everyone to choose hobbies based on their interests, rather than limiting their choice only to services that are addressed to a certain special group. New accessibility recommendations provide guidelines, tools, and tips for all hobby organisers towards accessibility in hobbies. The accessibility label helps in communications between hobby organisers and hobbyists and their families.
The Association of Finnish Children's Cultural Centres coordinates a project promoting accessibility of hobbies. The aim is to enable everyone, including children and young people, to choose hobbies based on their interests, rather than limiting their choice only to services addressed to a certain special group. Awareness of diverse audiences with welcoming and open attitudes to diversity are the key elements to developing better hobbies for all.
New accessibility recommendations and labels have been launched. The recommendations provide guidelines, tools, and tips towards accessibility in hobbies. The accessibility label helps in communications between hobby organisers and hobbyists and their families and support groups. The accessibility recommendations include online training and the traffic light method which are designed for hobby organisers to help them in assessing their current state of accessibility and choosing the accessibility tasks they will start improving from different aspects of accessibility.
