Buinho Associação
Founded in Messejana in 2015, Buinho is a cultural association dedicated to social innovation and youth empowerment through entrepreneurship and digital manufacturing. Based in Baixo Alentejo; an area facing ageing demographics, low density, and youth outmigration, Buinho works across Aljustrel, Castro Verde, Ferreira do Alentejo, Beja, and Ourique to reduce social exclusion, improve learning conditions, and boost territorial attractiveness by promoting the creative economy.
A unique rural FabLab, Buinho provides prototyping and maker services as drivers of regional development and individual empowerment. It has grown into a vibrant creative hub and educational centre, managing six dedicated houses in Messejana to form a network of complementary spaces for residents, educators, and makers. Core goals include narrowing the urban–rural gap in technological access for children and young people, and advancing circular-economy and sustainability practices in a rural context.
