Fundação Manuel Leão
The Manuel Leão Foundation (FML), a private non-profit organization located in Vila Nova de Gaia, PORTUGAL, was created in January 1996 by its founder, Manuel Valente de Pinho Leão, with the main purposes to promote the public good in the cross-cutting fields of education, culture, artistic activity, and social charity work. Its mission is to co-create value-added proposals with educational and cultural institutions and the community to promote the common good through research, training, innovation, cooperation and inclusion.
Casa da Imagem, which has been operating since September 2012, is a cultural center for artistic practice, creation, research and mediation on image. It belongs to the Manuel Leão Foundation and is housed in the industrial house where the ‘Rocha Artes Gráficas’ company once operated.
Casa da Imagem aspires to be a platform of participation, creation and arts education, in the field of image, in close collaboration with people, local, national and international entities, fostering a more just society.
