Salmastra

Salmastra was founded in the port of San Giovanni Li Cuti in Catania, where fresh and salt water intertwine in a multiverse of voices and perspectives. Since 2022, we have been promoting conscious relationships between humans and the aquatic environment, collaborating with local fishermen, artists and citizens.

Our main activities include artist residencies such as Maremeo, the Mycto.forme festival with scientific talks and artistic practices, intersectional Fuddafest, workshops, ecotourism, mapping of Catania coast and CutiCunta open assemblies on social issues.

Mission: to reactivate neglected urban, social and interspecies bonds through innovative conviviality that bring polarised communities together to share knowledge, enjoyment and changes.

Values: sociality and active citizenship.
