Algorithm vs. Democracy: Youth taking back the narrative is a youth-led initiative responding to the growing influence of algorithms on public opinion and democratic dialogue. Through interactive labs, creative digital production, and community debates, young people will explore digital ethics, challenge online manipulation, and co-create ethical standards for participation. The project transforms socio-cultural space into a hybrid Digital Agora where youth reclaim their voice and rebuild democratic trust online.
Algorithm vs. Democracy: Youth taking back the arrative is a response to a reality young people face every day: online spaces that shape opinions, amplify fear, and often distort democratic debate. Algorithms decide what we see, what becomes viral, and which voices are heard. Many young people consume content without understanding how digital systems influence their beliefs and emotions. This project empowers youth to take back control. Through hands-on Digital Ethics Labs, participants will analyse real examples of misinformation, polarisation, and algorithm-driven manipulation. They will openly discuss how digital platforms affect democracy and explore ethical ways to participate online. Instead of remaining passive users, young people will become creators. Together, they will develop a Youth Code of Digital Ethics and produce short videos and visual campaigns promoting responsible digital behaviour and respectful dialogue. By connecting youth with educators and civic actors, the project turns a socio-cultural centre into a space where digital awareness becomes democratic action, online and offline.
