The Art Picnics project creates a three-day art space in Kamianets-Podilskyi where teenagers (13–15) explore freedom, equality, and human rights through creative expression. In a time of social challenges and disinformation, it is essential to foster critical thinking and the ability to peacefully defend values. Through discussions, art workshops, and open-air painting, participants create artistic statements about democracy. The project concludes with a public exhibition and a catalog of participants’ works, which will be shared with Kamianets-Podilskyi’s twin cities.
The project gives children the opportunity to demonstrate their perception of freedom and democracy through art. The following activities will be held at different locations over the course of 3 days. Day 1. City Children's Art School • Quest "Search for the Values of Democracy" with the involvement of an expert on freedom of speech • Workshop on creating a poster in the style of modern pop art on the topic "How I Feel Freedom and Democracy" Day 2. Ecological and Naturalistic Youth Center • Discussion on tolerance and equality with the involvement of an expert on human rights protection and the human body • Plein-air painting based on contact classes with animals Day 3. Educational and artistic space "Bibliosad" • Demonstration of a film about civil society in Ukraine with the involvement of an expert from the DokuDays "Gomin" media education club • Master class on cutting out, where participants cut out symbols of freedom and democracy according to their own vision and create a common panel-cutout. An exhibition and catalog of the created works are being prepared in the future, including works by children from the twin cities of Wiesbaden (Ger) and Kulbashov (Pl).
