Artists at Risk Residency
MeetFactory o.p.s.
Czech Republic
The Artists at Risk residency at MeetFactory supports international artists in Prague who relocated due to war, political oppression, or social instability. One artist will be selected through an open call for a residency from August to October 2026. The project culminates in a public presentation during Open Studios (17 September), where the artist will share their work through a talk, performance, or participatory workshop, fostering dialogue on their experience of political crises and displacement.
Artists at Risk is a residency program at MeetFactory supporting international artists who relocated to the Czech Republic due to war, political oppression, or social instability. It builds on MeetFactory’s earlier initiative providing studio space to Ukrainian artists during the war. The program started with an open call in 2025, hosting one artist so far. The spring 2026 resident was Olena Kurzel, Ukrainian artist who relocated in 2025. The next residency (Aug–Oct 2026) will support one artist selected through open call, providing studio, honorary, production budget, and curatorial support. The residency enables the artist to develop new work while engaging with the local community. A key public outcome on September during Open Studios will present the resident’s work through talks, performances, or workshops, fostering dialogue on displacement, conflict, and democratic values while connecting local and international art scenes.
