Torino Citta Invisibile is a TOCC/PNRR-funded AR public artwork already built by KaninchenHaus and ConiglioViola: it maps chapters of Calvino’s Le citta invisibili onto real Turin locations, layering mixed-reality narratives accessible via smartphone. The app and methodology are proven. The ENCC grant funds Aurora Invisibile: a new chapter co-created by Aurora residents inside Borealis. Participants collectively choose the location, produce sounds, images and stories that become permanent AR layers in public space. Citizens, Migrants and excluded youth become digital authors, not audiences.
KaninchenHaus APS and ConiglioViola developed Torino Citta Invisibile under the Italian Ministry of Culture’s TOCC/PNRR grant. The project maps Calvino’s Le citta invisibili onto real Turin locations: each literary city becomes an AR episode layered over real architecture, accessible via smartphone, tablet or Oculus. Partners: National Film Museum of Turin, Fondazione Circolo dei Lettori, DAMS, Accademia Albertina. The co-creation methodology is tested: collective reading sessions find correspondences between literary and real places; musicians build sonic architectures; artists produce visual content; the team implements everything in AR via Unity and GPS.The ENCC grant funds Aurora Invisibile: a new chapter created by Aurora residents at Borealis. The community collectively chooses the neighbourhood location, participates in all phases — sound, image, story — and co-authors a permanent AR layer gifted to the neighbourhood. Migrants, youth and excluded groups become digital creators. University participants earn academic credits.
