How does democracy work online? BiblioTech Democracy Lab invites young people to explore digital ethics through games, simulations, and creative storytelling. Participants learn to recognize misinformation, understand how algorithms shape opinions, and produce digital campaigns promoting respectful dialogue. By transforming BiblioTech spaces into youth civic labs, the project empowers young people across Albania to actively participate in building healthier digital democracies.
BiblioTech transforms community hubs into participatory civic spaces where young people explore digital ethics and democratic participation. In an era where social media increasingly shapes public debate, many youth lack the skills to critically evaluate online information, recognize misinformation, or understand how digital platforms influence opinions and democratic processes. The project addresses this challenge through interactive, creative, and youth-centered learning. Participants will take part in Digital Ethics Workshops exploring misinformation, fact-checking, algorithmic bias, and ethical online behaviour. A Democracy Simulation Lab will allow participants to experience how information spreads online and how algorithms and virality can shape public opinion. Through a Creative Digital Democracy Studio, youth will produce short videos, memes, and digital artwork promoting respectful online dialogue and democratic participation. The project will conclude with the collaborative development of an Ethics Manifesto, with community principles for responsible online engagement. Thus young people become critical active digital citizens creating a healthier democracy.
