Bombarda’s Map - an illustrated cartography of the place and its stories is an artistic residency and intervention by the artist and architect Miguel Magalhães. The initiative will take place at Jardins do Bombarda Community Center, in Lisbon and is expected to last four weeks. The project is based on the creation of an illustrated cartography that will be at the center of a scenic composition with successive planes of depth, using illustrations of plants and flowers blending with real vegetation, creating a bridge between reality and fiction based on the idea of "listening architecture”.

Bombarda’s Map illustrated cartography will be framed by a scenographic structure -

supporting living and drawn plants and welcoming those arriving at Jardins do Bombarda.

This immersive art installation will function like a "pop-up" book. It will transport us into the

interior of a series of successive layers - like a "shadow-box" - with illustrations of plants and

flowers, which blend with real plants.

Within this spot of social interaction, functioning at the same time as info point and bar, the

art piece will gain special prominence, allowing the visitor to feel inside a story in permanent

development. By connecting reality and fiction the idea that we are always drawing our own

reality gets reinforced. Drawn plants and real plants will be mixed, establishing a parallel with

Jardins do Bombarda project itself: a support for life in constant evolution.

The intervention will follow Placemaking methodology which promotes the adaptation of

spaces based on the people who use them and the different uses they can accommodate.

Spaces are not only functional, they foster a sense of community and social connection,

inspiring people to reimagine and reinvent them collectively.
