Brno Votes Culture 2026 makes local cultural policy a clear electoral topic. We will run a structured candidates’ questionnaire for Brno city leadership and publish comparable answers, then host a moderated public debate. The initiative helps voters and the cultural community navigate polarised narratives with facts, transparent commitments and respectful dialogue. Building on Brno kulturní’s proven watchdog work and earlier election formats, we also train and pay interns to support outreach, data processing and civic communication.
It will be a similar scenario to the one we have already implemented in the previous two municipal elections, i.e. in the fall of 2024 and 2018. (1) Candidates’ Cultural Policy Survey (10–15 questions; mix of comparable commitments + short explanations) sent to all relevant parties/coalitions; (2) Public debate with invited lead candidates, moderated with clear dialogue rules; (3) Open online archive (webpage + shareable graphics) enabling post‑election follow‑up. Process: co-design themes with local cultural actors; collect public questions; ensure equal invitation and transparent methodology. Interns: we will recruit and pay interns (students/early‑career) and mentor them in survey design, fact‑checking, data visualisation, and inclusive moderation support. Timeline: preparation & partner outreach (spring 2026); survey distribution and follow‑ups (summer 2026); publication of results + media briefing (late summer); debate + video recording/captions (one week or another specified time period before the municipal elections, i.e., this year October 9 and 10, 2026.); post‑election ‘promise tracker’ update. Target groups: voters, cultural organisations, artists, journalists
