“Coloring for the Future” is a participatory cultural initiative led by Amigos de Europa that uses art as a driver for community development and as a response to rural depopulation. The project transforms the town into an open-air museum, bringing together local and international artists to co-create more than 30 urban art murals that reflect shared values, heritage, and future aspirations.
Walls across the town feature poems in multiple languages, celebrating diversity while reinforcing local identity and cultural pride. Through workshops, collaborative painting, and community engagement, residents of all ages actively contribute to shaping public spaces and strengthening social cohesion.
The initiative also develops digital tools that enable self-guided tours around the murals and poems, allowing visitors to explore the town independently. These tools enrich the experience through augmented reality, offering interactive content and deeper cultural insights. By using culture and art in a participatory way, the project raises awareness of local life and identity, attracts visitors, and supports the town’s social and economic revitalization.
