Dialogues for Trust is a communication format designed to foster empathy and bridge divides among youth. In a polarized society, we create a "safe space of encounter" where diversity is a generative source. Participants move from traditional lectures to horizontal dialogue, discussing sensitive topics through storytelling and Non-Violent Communication (NVC). This is relevant because it transforms social fragmentation into collective understanding, empowering young people to become active, empathetic citizens who can navigate disagreements without hostility.
"Dialogues for Trust" addresses the growing fragmentation among youth by providing a structured framework for difficult conversations. Our methodology centers on three pillars: Safety, Equality, and Empathy. We facilitate sessions where young people (aged 14-25) engage in guided storytelling and critical listening. Instead of traditional pedagogical approaches, we utilize a horizontal model where facilitators act as mentors who guide rather than teach. This allows for genuine expression of fears, aspirations, and values. Participants explore topics like social justice, community identity, and civic responsibility. The project serves as a "laboratory for democratic participation," teaching participants how to practice democracy in real-time. By the end of the cycle, youth are not just recipients of information but co-creators of an inclusive community culture. We plan to document these dialogues and create a "Dialogue Toolkit" to share our methodology with other socio-cultural centres, ensuring the project's long-term sustainability and potential for replication across the ENCC network.
