The "DialogueUP" will take place on 11 July during the annual Art Picnic at Lūznava Manor. The event attracts around 1,500 visitors from diverse audiences, including youth, seniors, artists, families, and local residents. Organising the dialogue sessions within this lively cultural event creates an open and informal setting where people who might not normally attend civic discussions can participate. It encourages spontaneous conversations, intercultural encounters and dialogue about civic engagement, community cooperation, and the challenges facing border regions and European societies.
In times of rising social and political polarisation in Europe, spaces for respectful dialogue are increasingly vital. “DialogueUP” will take place at Lūznava Manor, Rēzekne Municipality, in Latvia’s culturally diverse border region. The project creates a safe, inclusive environment where youth, seniors, minority representatives, activists, and locals engage in small dialogue circles to share experiences, reflect on common values, and address social, political, and cultural fragmentation, as well as disinformation. Held on 11 July during the “Mākslas pikniks” (“Art Picnic”) with ~1,500 diverse visitors, the project fosters civic participation, common dialogue, empathy, and cooperation. Key topics explored during the meetings: civic participation, democratic values, trust in institutions, media literacy, and the impact of disinformation on communities. By bringing together people of different ages and experiences, the project aims to strengthen intergenerational dialogue and promote a better understanding of the diverse realities within society.
