EXTREM Ecosystem: Growing the Taxi Kollectif

Following the EXTREM Erasmus+ training in cultural mediation and theatre facilitation developed by Medeber Teatro in 2025, around 12 young (18-35) people with migrant backgrounds formed Taxi Kollectif — a Brussels-based artistic collective working with marginalised communities. Medeber Teatro now seeks to build a pilot support ecosystem to accompany them: co-creating residencies, developing funding literacy, and building partnerships. This responds to a structural gap: without organisational capacity, emerging collectives cannot sustainably serve the communities who need their work most.
EXTREM Ecosystem is a mentorship and capacity-building programme by Medeber to support Taxi Kollectif — a young, multilingual, multidisciplinary collective born out of the EXTREM E+ training in Brussels, working with marginalised communities through cultural and artistic mediation. Running May to October 2026, it includes: a residential weekend to consolidate dossier writing; workshops co-facilitated by collective members for local audiences, associations, and festivals; training on fundraising, institutional navigation, and legal frameworks; and ongoing accompaniment in building local and European partnerships. Taxi Kollectif sees transformative potential in artistic mediation as a tool for expression and emancipation — particularly for those rarely heard. But realising this requires structural support. Without capacity to navigate funding systems and sustain their practice, the communities they work with, they have more difficulties in attending and building partnerships with marginalised audiences. EXTREM Ecosystem addresses this gap and develops a replicable, documented pilot model for sustaining migrant-led collectives working with marginalised groups across Europe.
