фестиваль "Place-Action" в Кыргызстане
Театральный клуб MESTO D...
Kyrgyzstan
The contemporary theatre festival “Mesto — Action”, a landmark cultural event in Kyrgyzstan. The two-week September showcase takes place across urban venues: parks, schools, a factory, theatres, and more. Participants include professional theatre makers, emerging local and regional artists, as well as anyone from Central Asia submitting a project or idea through the open call. The festival provides grants for participants working with various theatrical forms and also produces its own premieres. It serves as an independent, experimental space for cultural resistance.
A contemporary theatre festival that will take place in Bishkek in autumn 2026 for the third consecutive year. “Mesto — Action” was initiated by the theatre MESTO D,which has been developing contemporary theatre in Bishkek since 2007. MESTO D collaborates with theatres from Kyrgyzstan, Central Asia, and other countries, creating performances and organizing festivals across various genres. We constantly strive to demonstrate that Kyrgyz art is not only capable of keeping pace with the times but also of setting trends. All festival projects are created by authors working in Central Asia — both emerging artists presenting their first works and experienced theatre makers who have long been experimenting with contemporary theatre forms. Each year, the festival program includes more than 35 events: performances, workshops, lectures, parties, a book market, as well as a “dark program” — performances that we consider necessary to present but cannot show publicly due to censorship, and therefore hold secretly.Over the first two years, the festival was attended by more than 1,000 spectators.
