The Gyumri Civic Music Lab empowers young people to express and address local social challenges through collaborative music creation. Participants co-design songs and performances reflecting community concerns, turning their voices into civic action. By combining art with dialogue, the project fosters youth engagement, strengthens community bonds, and creates a model for participatory cultural initiatives in small cities.
The Gyumri Civic Music Lab is a participatory initiative empowering young people to transform local social concerns into collective civic action through music. Participants engage in dialogue workshops to explore issues affecting their community, such as youth disengagement, social inequality, and future uncertainty. They then co-create songs, spoken word, and performances that reflect these concerns. The lab culminates in public presentations, allowing community members to experience and engage with the work. By combining artistic creation with civic dialogue, the project fosters youth empowerment, strengthens community bonds, and produces a replicable toolkit for participatory cultural initiatives in small cities, offering a model for civic engagement across Europe.
