“Halle 16” has reclaimed an old industrial site for art and culture in a rural, structurally weak area. In this setting, there are many obstacles: small communities shaped by us-vs-them thinking, migrants excluded from public life, almost no public spaces in which people can meet. As a socio-cultural centre Halle 16 has established a Third Place for people to meet and connect. The “Halle 16” Art Days bring people together, enabling public discourse and social participation to overcome polarities and black-and-white thinking. In four days, artists will offer workshops in a wide range of experimental expression (dance, theatre, music, fine arts, improvisation) to explore the body. Artists have provided workshops for the past three years, but always as separate entities. We believe that bringing all together will benefit everyone. How we think about our body shapes our mind and impacts how we think about ourselves in society. We want to explore this connection artistically and discuss it on our last communal dinner with performances on Sunday evening. During the Art Days we create connections across mindsets, cultures, religions and disabilities and celebrate what we can do together
