Kartzin- Forum Series
VISUAL VOICES
Cyprus
Kartzin- Forum Series is implemented within the framework of Kartzin, a cultural and community space led by Visual Voices. Kartzin [karşı] (Cypriot dialect): "in front of," "across," or "opposite." As in physical positioning or sides in discussion.
This cultural infrastructure is dedicated to the socially engaged arts as a critical steward of freedom of expression that is inherently subversive, operating as collaborative practices that challenge dominant narratives and open up new interpretations of pressing societal issues. Ultimately the goal is a free space for open and meaningful dialogue.

Kartzin is a non-commercial cultural infrastructure dedicated to the socially engaged arts as a
critical steward of freedom of expression that is inherently subversive, operating as collaborative practices that challenge dominant narratives and open up new interpretations of pressing societal issues. Fostering dialogue and understanding between emerging artists, cultural institutions, and local authorities, with the ultimate goal of building a more inclusive cultural landscape that reflects diverse aspirations.
Kartzin- Forum Series will be implemented within this framework with the goal of establishing a free space for open and meaningful dialogue around key issues that polarize the communities we work in. These issues will be derived from community consultations and will take place in two parts. Hosting each conversation will be academic/ cultural/ social professionals relevant to the theme. Both sessions will produce actionable outcomes (e.g. policy recommendations, position papers, and letters to public authorities) disseminated to relevant bodies.
