Lucid Absurdities is a physical theatre and dance project that uses embodied storytelling to explore how fear, control, and emotional disconnection affect human relationships. Through a shared dream experience, the project creates a safe space for reflection and dialogue on how misunderstanding and lack of listening shape conflict. Its relevance lies in supporting dialogue in times of polarisation, using artistic practice to foster empathy, critical listening, and mutual understanding.
Lucid Absurdities is a physical theatre and dance performance set in an airport during a flight delay, where two strangers fall asleep and enter a shared lucid dream. Within this dream, fears and desires surface, revealing how trauma, emotional dependency, and the need for control affect relationships.
The performance unfolds through three dream scenes. The first presents a rigid, mechanical environment where movement is repetitive and controlled. The second shifts toward openness, as gestures of connection become unstable. The third reveals the collapse of control, where domination fails and autonomy emerges.
When the characters awaken, they are changed. One reclaims autonomy, while the other confronts obsession. Transformation occurs through awareness.
The project combines physical theatre with street dance styles, using the body rather than text to communicate emotional states.
Lucid Absurdities supports dialogue in times of polarisation by exploring how fear and emotional disconnection block listening and understanding.
