Mosaic Explorations for a Collective Visual Identity in Capri Leone
Asociacion Cultural La Gloria Factoría de Arte
Spain
The project strengthens community identity in Capri Leone by activating collective memory, expanding the Living Archive and introducing mosaic as a shared visual language. Through intergenerational labs and collaborative explorations, residents co‑create symbols and narratives rooted in their territory. Its relevance lies in empowering a rural community to become an active cultural producer, fostering cohesion and democratic participation.
The project develops a community‑based artistic process in Capri Leone between May and October 2026. It begins with pre‑production work—research, listening, on‑site coordination and community outreach—to activate collective memory and expand the Living Archive through photographs, testimonies and everyday stories.
During the residency period in July and August, intergenerational labs, narrative walks, prototyping workshops and initial mosaic explorations invite residents to experiment with fragments, colours and symbols that reflect their shared identity. These activities do not aim to produce a final artwork but to co‑design a visual language that emerges from the community itself.
In September and October, the team carries out post‑production: systematisation of materials, editing of archive contributions and preparation of a community assembly. The project concludes with a collective validation of the symbolic materials generated and the definition of next steps toward the 2027 community mosaic mural.
