Palco Despolariza: Conversas sobre Arte e Diálogo (Conversations on Art and Dialogue)
Corrente de Ar
Portugal
A public programme of conversations presented within Corrente de Ar Vol. VI. The series brings together artists, researchers, journalists, and professionals from other fields to explore how culture can reopen spaces for dialogue in increasingly polarised societies. Topics range from art as a form of social care to media literacy, civic listening, and the role of cultural spaces in fostering constructive disagreement. By inviting diverse voices to share a stage and engage with audiences, Palco Despolariza positions art as a catalyst for empathy, critical thinking, and democratic exchange.
“Palco Despolariza” (Depolarise Stage in Portuguese) is a public programme of conversations presented within Corrente de Ar VI, taking place in Lisbon from 11–13 September 2026. Corrente de Ar is an annual initiative supporting emerging artists by providing space, visibility and opportunities for exchange with wider audiences.
Complementing the exhibition, Palco Despolariza expands the project’s engagement with the public sphere through talks and moderated conversations bringing together artists, researchers, journalists, healthcare professionals and cultural practitioners to reflect on how culture can respond to growing social fragmentation and political polarisation.
Themes include art as a form of social care and wellbeing, the relationship between visual culture and misinformation, the role of cultural spaces in fostering constructive disagreement, and how artistic practices can encourage listening and empathy. By connecting different perspectives and inviting audience participation, the programme positions contemporary art as a catalyst for dialogue, critical reflection and civic engagement.
