MORA MUNDUS ASSOCIAÇÃO
Portugal
In small rural communities, the integration of migrants is often more difficult than in urban areas. This project aims to promote dialogue and integration of migrants in the closely knit local environment through culture and arts.
It is also relevant since there is no Local Support Centre for the integration of migrants in the Municipality of Mora, nor any other intervention, service or project of public and/or private initiative. Despite this reality, the foreign population living in the municipality has been increasing in recent years. It is paramount to connect people and local services
The project is a partnership between two local associations, Mora Mundus and monte da amOrada and will run through a whole year, starting in March, commemorating the Woman's International Day. This kick-off event included a photo exhibition of local and migrant women- Women from here and there- a performance by these women, focusing on the theme and a musical concert by a musician from Guiné.
This initiative will be followed by a series of build-up sessions, leading towards a final installation/performance wrapping-up all the work and participation by local and migrant populations, as well as public/private services. This event will include an audio-visual interaction, based on the life stories of the participants and the philosophical deconstruction process of the concept of Belonging, depicted in audio, video and large format photos.
The objective is to foster the integration of migrant population, using a twofold approach: promoting intercultural dialogue through artistic languages, as well as giving support to this migrant population through local personal contacts and access to services such as social security, employment, immigration and municipal services.
