RE:PUBLIC: board game co-creation events for imagining an united future
Magnit
Bulgaria
Recent political protests in Bulgaria sparked a wave of awakening among Gen Z. These young people need to transform the generated energy into lasting democratic change. Our hub Magnit provides a ‘third place’ for youth ideas to sprout via methods such as the board game RE:PUBLIC. In RE:PUBLIC the participants become co-creators of possible societies through play, art, storytelling and dialogue. It’s a living lab of shared ideas – by drawing and writing views of reality, dreams and needs for the future. The fragmented perspectives become one courageous narrative – built together, owned by all.
Magnit is a socio-cultural youth centre working at the intersection of art, community engagement and climate action. We develop participatory formats to connect young people to environmental and civic issues through creative expression and collective action.
The RE:PUBLIC event piloted in Magnit in November 2025 to great success. It brings together diverse youth to imagine and put into words and drawings the world as they see it – reaching their authentic views, needs and brave ideas.
We will organise:
1) a series of public co-creation events in the socio-cultural youth centre Magnit;
2) the creation and dissemination of a methodological toolkit through which other socio-cultural centres can implement RE:PUBLIC and multiply its impact.
The events are designed to be inclusive and encourage participants to bring their own perspectives, identities, and experiences into the narrative. By centering imagination as a civic tool, RE:PUBLIC fosters dialogue, empathy, and collective agency. It responds to growing societal polarization by offering a playful, accessible space to explore alternative futures and plant the first seeds of recognizing, owning and acting on collective ideas.
