Sima Digital Radar: AI Ethics Radar for Cultural CSOs
Culture for Change
Greece
The "Sima Digital Radar" transforms the abstract debate on AI into a live digital mapping for the third sector. Cultural CSOs often lack the tools to assess how AI affects their democratic role. Our project offers an open-source platform where CSOs log their digital challenges, feeding a public map and a live statistics dashboard. It aims to promote digital ethics and collective action and empower Civil Society against technological inequalities and algorithmic bias in culture.
Our proposal creates a pioneering digital infrastructure that complements the Sima initiative (“Co-shaping Ethical Frameworks in the Era of Artificial Intelligence by Civil Society,” CERV-2024-CITIZENS-VALUES). The app will document, visualize, and address ethical and democratic challenges cultural CSOs face when adopting AI, turning their experiences into collective knowledge and policy advocacy. It includes:
Interactive Mapping Platform: A GIS tool where cultural CSOs map digital challenges and ethical dilemmas linked to AI (e.g., copyright, data privacy).
Regularly Updated Data Visualization: A dashboard that aggregates and visualizes anonymized data for stakeholders.
Advocacy Integration: The Radar’s data will be shared with networks and decision-makers, providing the evidence needed to support democratic demands for a fair digital landscape.
While Sima measures broader social impact and supports education and advocacy, Radar provides a dedicated digital layer to monitor AI’s effects on CSOs and creates a lasting 'Digital Legacy' for Europe’s cultural sector.
