Stadera mi butto! is a participatory cultural initiative promoted by Z.I.A., an independent cultural centre in the Stadera district of Milan. The project invites local residents to co-create the cultural programme by participating in the selection, design and organisation of artistic activities. Through workshops, debates and public events, participants acquire practical cultural skills while shaping a shared programme. The initiative strengthens civic participation, encourages cultural democracy and promotes intergenerational dialogue in a neighbourhood on the outskirts of the city.
Stadera mi butto! is a community cultural initiative that transforms a neighbourhood cultural centre into a platform for democratic participation. The project takes place at Z.I.A. – Zona Indipendente Artistica, an independent cultural space in the Stadera neighbourhood of Milan, a historically working-class and multicultural area with strong community ties maintaining a diverse social composition including families, young people and long-term residents. Through a public call, citizens of different ages and backgrounds form a working group that collaborates with artists and cultural professionals to co-create the cultural programme. Participants take part in workshops and collective activities focused on cultural programming, communication and event organisation. The process includes attending performances, discussing artistic proposals and collectively designing events responding to neighbourhood needs. The project culminates in a public programme curated with the community, including performances, talks and workshops open to residents, strengthening civic participation and promoting culture as a tool for social cohesion.
