Many people are looking for affordable, safe places where they can try things out, exchange ideas, organise and develop – beyond consumerism, pressure to perform and institutional hurdles. TagWerk opens the KUFA during the day as a safe and accessible space for marginalised groups who previously had little access to cultural spaces. Freely accessible rooms and low-threshold, participatory formats create opportunities for encounters and self-organisation. At exchange meetings, the groups get to know each other, share their perspectives and develop democratic rules for coexistence.
Those who visit KUFA during the day often encounter quiet corridors and closed doors. It is only in the evening hours that cultural life unfolds. At the same time, many people in Hildesheim are looking for affordable, safe places where they can try things out, exchange ideas, organise and develop – beyond consumerism, pressure to perform and institutional hurdles. Marginalised groups in particular lack such spaces for encounter, artistic work and self-empowerment. With „TagWerk“, KUFA is responding to this need and developing into an open, inclusive place during the day as well. The project has three main objectives: 1. Open to diversity: KUFA is used by marginalised groups as a social and creative space during the day. 2. Participation through creativity: KUFA works with the groups to develop a diverse, accessible cultural programme. 3. Plenary session on diversity: Democracy is actively promoted through monthly, pedagogically accompanied exchange rounds for mutual understanding and negotiation. TagWerk is a stage, workshop and experimental space all at once – for people, perspectives and stories that have been too rarely visible in the cultural sector to date.
