The Border Philosophy is a project situated in a former border checkpoint to reflect on the border with organizations and indviduals active in the European towns divided by borders. In a series of meetings, events, podcasts, performances, exhibitions, we'll draft a book on the topic of European borders. The project will bring together the community of the twin towns Gorizia-Nova Gorica, who still struggle with border issues, with the experience of artists, activists, and scholars from other European twin towns, to learn and reimagine their cross-border communities.
The project connects the community of Gorizia–Nova Gorica, which still lives with the legacy of the border, with artists, activists, and scholars from other European twin towns. By sharing experiences, the project aims to reflect on border realities and imagine new forms of cross-border community. The programme will feature guests from European twin towns. Together with them, we will address several key themes: Centre and periphery, Gender at the edge, Migration and border closures, Nature in the borderlands. Each event will combine a public discussion with a cultural or artistic programme, such as an installation, performance, concert, or exhibition. Invited guests include: Tanel Rander, who has worked extensively in the twin town Valga–Valka; Joanna Wowrzeczka, working in Cieszyn–Český Těšín; Vladimir Mitev, from Ruse–Giurgiu, working on cross-border media initiatives such as Bridge of Friendship; Anna Lindkvist and Kenneth Mikko, a duo from Haparanda–Tornio on the Swedish-Finish border The project will consist of four events in Nova Gorica and four events in the guests’ twin towns. Out of these a draft for the book - with artwork from the events - will be made.
