The-globe
The Globe is an eco-digital performing arts hub in the rural Apennines of Valsamoggia, where access to cultural infrastructure is limited. Cultural resistance here means countering marginalisation through collective artistic expression and democratic participation. The project brings performing arts, festivals, residencies, and workshops to underserved communities, turning spectators into active cultural agents. Public and natural spaces become stages for dialogue, inclusion, and civic engagement, fostering social cohesion and democratic resilience.
The Globe is an eco-digital cultural hub dedicated to performing arts as tools for civic participation and cultural resistance. Located in the hills of Valsamoggia in the Apennines, where cultural infrastructure is scarce, it reclaims marginal territories through collective creativity and restores access to culture as a civic right. The project regenerates the area via a sustainable geodesic dome, open-air stages, and digitally connected natural spaces, hosting year-round performing arts and community activities. Core actions include participatory productions, site-specific performances, community festivals, residencies, workshops, youth programmes, performative assemblies, and hybrid digital formats amplifying civic voices. The Globe turns audiences into co-creators and communities into protagonists, fostering alliances between artists, citizens, schools, associations, and local institutions. Public spaces become arenas of inclusion and democratic dialogue. Performing arts act as civic infrastructure, strengthening democratic life and offering a replicable model of culture-led regeneration in rural and peri-urban Europe.
