The-Shared-Books-Corner
The project creates an inclusive book-sharing corner in the shared courtyard of a social hub in Quarto Oggiaro (Milan), used by several local organisations. A wooden structure with bookshelves and benches will offer residents a welcoming outdoor space to read, exchange books, and meet. Young people with disabilities will participate in the design, construction, and artistic decoration of the installation, promoting inclusion, collaboration between organisations, and accessible culture in the neighbourhood.
The project will create an inclusive book-sharing corner in the shared courtyard of a social hub in Quarto Oggiaro (Milan), a space used daily by several local social and community organisations. A wooden installation composed of a large panel, integrated bookshelves, and fixed benches will transform the courtyard into a welcoming outdoor reading area where residents can freely exchange books, sit, read, and meet. A key element of the project is social inclusion. In collaboration with Il Laboratorio, young people with disabilities will actively participate in the co-design, construction, and artistic decoration of the structure, gaining practical skills and visibility within the community. AmbienteAcqua APS will coordinate the initiative and provide books through its recovery and redistribution activities. The project will also involve local organisations sharing the space, including Consorzio SiR, Fondazione Arché, Vill@perta, ANPI Quarto Oggiaro and ASD Idea in Movimento. The initiative will be developed in dialogue with the Comune di Milano through the “Patti di Collaborazione”, promoting shared care and regeneration of community spaces.
