"Tree of Legends: The Digital Roots of the Lanivtsi Community"
Municipal institution Lanivtsi Center for Cultural Services Kremenets District Ternopil Region
Ukraine
"The Tree of Legends" in Lanivtsi is an interactive art object that combines cultural heritage with digital technologies. Thru QR codes on the installation, you can listen to audio stories and legends recorded by local residents.
The project digitizes the community's memory and strengthens local identity as a form of cultural resistance. This is a space for dialog between generations, where a shared past becomes a foundation for the future, and each voice is a part of a living history.
The project involves creating a multimedia space around the central installation — "Tree of Legends." This is an art object in the style of contemporary public art, with QR codes placed on its branches that lead to the community's digital archive. The content of the archive consists of audio recordings: professionally edited legends, local tales, and contemporary stories of resilience from Lanovets, narrated by residents of various ages.
The implementation includes three key stages: 1. "Memory Lab": conducting a series of focus groups and workshops with youth, veterans, and elderly people to collect authentic materials.
2. Digital transformation: recording interviews, editing audio narratives using sound design, and creating a web platform for their storage. Digital transformation: recording interviews, editing audio narratives using sound design, and creating a web platform for their storage.
3. Physical embodiment: creating a metal sculpture that will serve as a new venue for socio-cultural events and a symbol of community unity. Physical embodiment: the creation of a metal sculpture that will become a new venue for socio-cultural events and a symbol of community unity.
